ADUKG donates more than 5,000 English Language books to be delivered to refugees and developing countries through Emirates Red Crescent

Abu Dhabi University Knowledge Group (ADUKG), as part of its WeCare CSR initiative, has partnered with the Emirates Red Crescent to donate over 5,000 books to refugees and people in need in developing countries. The 30 boxes of books and educational materials were received by Emirates Red Crescent on Tuesday 31 May at ADUKG’s Al Ain campus.

The donated materials are English Language textbooks and workbooks for students at beginner to intermediate level in their studies. They will be used to support students to form a solid understanding of the language, thereby enabling them to confidently engage with and use English in the future.

In addition, ADUKG has donated over 700 textbooks for the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) certification. These are an essential part of the ICDL programme, the world’s most popular international certification for computer skills.

For both sets of student books, ADUKG has also included the associated teacher manuals and digital resources to best support local educators in delivering these programmes effectively.

“It is a key part of ADUKG’s vision that our company makes a sustainable contribution to the social and economic development of the entire MENA region and the wider world. Our WeCare initiative has been a great way to drive this vision forward as it undertakes a range of projects and schemes specifically aimed at making a positive social and economic impact, using our particular knowledge and resources to help address specific regional issues. The initiative’s current areas of focus are Education, Society, Health, and the Environment and our project with the Emirates Red Crescent will help make a direct impact on the education and future prospects of the many recipients of these materials, and will also translates the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan President of the UAE who dubbed 2016 as the ‘Year of Reading’,” said Dr. Ahmad Badr, Chief Executive Officer of ADUKG.

The donation boxes were collected by Emirates Red Crescent and will now be processed for distribution to the most needful overseas projects, including those related to refugees. ADUKG, as a leading providers of training & development solutions, has based its selection of these specific materials on its own experience of delivering highly-effective training programmes with the widest-possible impact on learners.
